Cabot Deck Stains: Protection for Your Pool Deck

Having a clean and orderly home is one thing most people wish for. Since exterior living has become highly popular in the west, exterior house stains have become a huge challenge. For deck stains, Cabot is undoubtedly number one. Cabot products help prevent mildew formation on the deck without harming any preexisting stain. This is important because if the wood's surface is not properly cleaned or washed, the deck stain will eventually wear off.

Cabot deck stain is an oil-based, semi-transparent product. The beauty of the Cabot deck stain is that it can bring out the wood's beauty while providing deep protection. Cabot deck stains are also very durable and can even be used on just about any type of wood surface, including decks and fences. However, Cabot deck stains are mostly used on lumber (e.g., cedar, pine, fir, redwood, cypress, spruce and pressure-treated wood). Before application of the Cabot deck stain, remove any remaining stain on your wood surface.

Undoubtedly, the main purpose behind Cabot deck stains is to provide protection for the wood while also giving the wood a beautiful look and preventing cracking, peeling and blistering. Cabot deck stains are waterproof and mildew resistant.

Below are a few tips when you are planning to stain your deck:

1. Clean your deck's surface prior to staining. Strip off any old finish. Use a wood cleanser to remove any dirt or algae. You can stain your deck only after it has been cleaned and allowed 3 to 5 days to dry.

2. There are several factors involved in the decision behind which stain product to actually choose and it largely depends on your personal taste. For example, some prefer to choose a color while others want to simply show off the natural beauty of the wood. If you do choose a stain color, make sure it has UV blockers because as the surface of the deck is horizontal, it becomes more prone to harsh conditions (e.g., ultraviolet light, heat, and moisture).

3. Carefully follow the stain application directions. For example, some deck stain products and semi-solids require single coat application only while others may require multiple applications. Keep temperature in mind; the optimal application temperatures should be listed in the instructions. In the US and Canada, the ideal time to apply a deck stain is between May and October. Avoid direct sunlight by applying the stain early in the morning or in the evening. Watch the weather for rain as the deck will need at least 24 hours to dry completely.

So, if you want to have a clean and dust free deck, make the right choice and use Cabot Deck Stains which give maximum protection for your woodwork.
